When I was offered the chance to fly to England to witness the Weston Beach Race this past weekend, I couldn’t pass it up. Although I can think of other things I’d rather do than sit on a plane for 12 hours, the travel was worth it to watch hundreds of quads race on the sand.
The track itself was the biggest and most insane thing I’ve ever seen. It was about a mile and a half long (which is fine if you’re on a quad, but when you’re hoofing it…it’s a little too long) and had some of the gnarliest kicker bumps and gigantic dunes I’ve ever seen. It was pure mayhem! Throw in some dirt bikes with side cars (yeah, they race with the quads), and it’s a recipe for three hours of pure entertainment.
We’ll have more of Weston in our next issue, but for now, you should start planning your trip to England for next year’s race. Trust me, it’s worth it!
